DRM is the result of the greedy RIAA just trying to control all facets of music production and distribution with complete disregard to Fair Use. If I pay for a CD or a song online, I should be able to convert that music into any format for my listening enjoyment. I shouldnt be limited by DRM to x number of transfers, burning/ripping limitations,etc. Yes, musicians rights to their own music should be protected but DRM is not the way to do it. DRM punishes honest users who copy music for their own use because of a minority who copy it for illegal distribution. Just my 2 cents.
