And I can fully understand why an individual would try to protect their rights to fair use -- to format shift or space shift, to sample, to make a backup copy, to use in a mix CD. DRM imposes control that goes beyond copyright law. And as an individual consumer, I'm going to look out for my best interests by not supporting companies that strip me of my rights -- just like the companies will look for what they think is their best interest. I'm not prepared to give up my right to culture just because the record industry asks me to.
